I grew up in Marshall, Texas, and graduated with a BFA from SMU. One of my first positions was as a designer for The Drawing Board in Dallas, where I had the extraordinary opportunity to work with Jim Henson’s Muppets and Sesame Street characters. That experience introduced me to The New York Stationery Show and Children’s Television Workshop, launching a fruitful career that lasted over 25 years.
That amazing adventure became a springboard into illustrating books and games for Random House, Simon & Schuster, Mattel, Fisher-Price, Milton Bradley, and others.
Along the way, I illustrated more than 100 published books and games while creating a whimsical family of characters of my own, many of which became licensed for major brands and national campaigns.
Since retiring in 2010, I have enthusiastically redirected my creative energy into mixed-media painting, primarily oil.
I continue to study, experiment, and find joy in my studios in Dallas and Colorado, driven by the same sense of joy that has shaped my career. Every day, I am embracing and enjoying the spirit of artistic freedom and personal creative emancipation.
With boundless enthusiasm, at my age, the only restriction is time. I find it impossible to retire that rewarding sense of artistic discovery.
